State Representative

Matt Castlen, entrepreneur and small business owner, is proud to be your Kentucky State Representative for the 14th District – which includes eastern Daviess County and Ohio County.

“Our state motto is ‘United we stand, divided we fall,’ but when I look across the state – and even national politics – I don’t see unity,” Castlen says, explaining his belief that Kentucky is ready for a change.

“Frankfort needs leadership that is much less concerned about party lines; leadership that works for the people and pushes our state forward. We need to look past the divide and focus on what will make Kentucky prosper, which I believe is a faith-based agenda where we work together as a united team to improve the lives of Kentuckians,” he says.

Along with his wife, Laura, Matt built Castlen Welding and Manufacturing, LLC in 2009. Since then, they have diversified and expanded their company. Castlen is now the president and owner of Castlen Steel, Green River Industrial, and Castlen Enterprises.

Matt grew up working on the family farm from an early age, primarily raising corn, soybeans and burley tobacco.  He graduated from Daviess County High School and obtained an American Welding Society welding degree from Owensboro Community and Technical College.

His two children, Claire and Abram, are Castlen’s driving force to ensure upcoming generations have a bright future.

Castlen takes pride in being heavily involved in the local community.  He currently serves as the 2nd Vice President & Board Member of Daviess County Kentucky Farm Bureau, Executive Board Member of Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation, Board Member for KY GO FAME, Community Board Member of Independence Bank, Director of Men’s Brotherhood at Yellow Creek Baptist Church, Member of the Huts for Haiti Mission Team, District 3 Representative for the Kentucky Corn Growers Association, and serves as a Deacon at Yellow Creek Baptist Church.
